Schleich 2012
Schleich has released 12 figures for a new line in 2012. Marketing Schleich skipped 2011 to concentrate on a large 2012 new medium release. Schleich has long practiced consistency of design so that the dinosaur figures from their three lines are mutually compatible. This is similar to the approach Marx used in the 50’s and 60’s with their classic dinosaur sets. While the large Replicasaurus line still has Giganotosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Allosaurus, Spinosaurus, and Quetzalcoatlus, the new medium series is done in the Replicasaurus style but smaller with upgraded reconstructions. The Giganotosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Allosaurus, Spinosaurus, and raptor all have moveable jaws. The Tyrannosaurus is bipedal like the discontinued hunting T rex but with better proportions. The raptor is in the style of the small line. The Apatosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Stegosaurus, Triceratops, Quetzalcoatlus, and Saichania all are based on the Replicasaurus figures done in conjunction with the Humboldt Museum. Developing a new medium line provided retailers with a fresh product at a lower price point that is easy to stock while retaining their established look and feel. In 2013 a new medium was used for Carnotaurus and Styracosaurus.
In 2016 the Prehistoric Giants were released.
