Carnegie Safari
The 1/10 scale Oviraptor 2005 was the first to have feathers. The body has been textured to give it the modern feathered look. Slender and avian looking it joined the subgroup of 1/10 scale figures Carnegie Safari created. The parrot coloring suits this small theropod. It joined the Velociraptor, Dimetrodon and retired Psitacosaurus using the smaller scale. The 2005 Oviraptor unlike its compatriots it was in production for a short time and is relatively rare. The two smallest figures from 1989 Dimetrodon and Deinonychus are becoming uncommon as often happens with smaller figures. Another uncommon figure is Psittacosaurus that was in production briefly. The 1/10 scale figure was released in 1999 and retired in 2004. Marx and Hasbro figures have been openly copied but there have been few overt Carnegie knock offs and most tend to be marketed in the EU. Safari Ltd has been known defended it copy right on occasion. ELC marketed a particularly egregious Baryonyx copy they didn’t even change the size or colors. Salvat in Spain did some crude knock offs. I have seen a few smaller sized copies from China. Safari Ltd owns and keeps all it molds so that may have limited the pilferage that other companies have experienced.
